Open Book Sit Prob: Fri, June 2 FINAL EXAM: Monday, June 12; 9-11:30 am Probability/Transformation Test: Thurs, May 25 May 10: we will now be working on transformations. We will look at Cartesian planes and coordinates; and we will perform translations, reflections, rotations and dilatations. There will be a combined chapter test on probability and transformations, date TBD. May 1: we will now be working on probability. We will look at the basic counting principle (multiplication rule), theoretical one-step probability, and tree diagrams. Angle Test: Friday, April 28 April 11: we will now be working on angles. We will look at lines, rays and segments; angle types; angles in triangles and quadrilaterals; and angle classifications and justifications. Surface Area Test: Friday, April 7 March 20: we will now be working on 3D solids. We will look at naming prisms and pyramids, drawing nets, and identifying vertices, faces and edges. We will then work on surface area of prisms and pyramids. Patterns and Algebra Test: Friday, March 17 Feb. 15: we will now be working on patterns and algebra. We will look at pattern rules which will lead us into writing term number rules and algebraic expressions. We will then plug in and solve, solve for n and work with word problems. Stats and Integer Test: Tuesday, February 14 Mid Year Exam: Wednesday, Jan 25 Situational Problem Exam: Friday, Jan 27 Area and Perimeter Test: Wednesday, December 21 Nov. 30: we will now be working on 2D area and perimeter. We will look at metric conversions; area and perimeter of squares, rectangles, parallelograms, triangles, trapezoids and rhombii; and area of complex shapes. Students need to know how to we work backwards through formulas, as well, to find missing dimensions. Fraction Test: Tuesday, November 29 November 3: We will now be working on Fraction Operations. We will cover: converting improper and mixed; comparing; simplifying; equivalent fractions; adding; subtracting; multiplying; dividing; exponents; square roots; and BEDMAS. Situational Problem Exam: Wednesday, Nov 2 Ratio, rates, percents & proportion test: Thursday, Oct 27 October 6: We will now be working on Proportions. We will look at ratios, rates, percents and conversions. We will then apply these concepts to word problems. Number Theory Test: Tuesday, Oct, 4 August 31: We will spend the first few days getting acquainted with the class. We will then start our first chapter "Natural Numbers" where we will look at natural numbers, factors and multiples, divisibility rules, LCM/GCF, powers, prime and composite numbers, factor trees, square roots, and order of operations. |
