Important Info: FINAL EXAM: Wednesday, June 14; 9-11:30 am Open Book Sit Prob: Thurs, May 25 Probability/Similarity Test: Wed, May 24 May 12: we will now be spending a few classes on similar figures. We will look at scale factor and proportions and finding missing terms. There will be a combined chapter test on probability and similarity, date TBD. May 4: we will now be working on probability. We will look at the basic counting principle (multiplication rule), theoretical probability, independent vs dependent, and tree diagrams. Total Surface Area & Angles Test: Tuesday, May 2 March 30: We will now be working on surface area of 3D prisms and pyramids, followed by angles and angle justifications. Algebra Test: Wednesday, March 29 Feb. 28: We will be continuing algebra this chapter. We will solve for x and write and solve algebraic word problems. (All first degree) Polynomial Test: Monday, Feb 27 Feb. 7: We will now be working on polynomials. We will look at simplifying, adding, subtracting and multiplying/dividing by constants. We will also look at degrees. Functions Test: Thursday Feb 2 Mid Year Exam: Wednesday, Jan 25 Situational Problem Exam: Friday, Jan 27 Dec. 20: we will now be working on Functions. We will start off reviewing algebraic expressions, plugging in and solving. We will then look at 4 function rules: y=mx+b; y=x2+b; y=a/x and y=b; followed by direct and inverse proportions. Stats/Integers Test: Friday, Dec 16 Graphing Project due Tuesday, Dec 20 Nov. 23: we will now be working on Statistics and Integers. We will work on bar, line and circle graphs; statistic vocab; mean and range; and integer operations. Circle Test: Tuesday, November 22 October 26: We will now be working on circles. This is a new topic that the students have not seen before. We will look at circle definitions (the parts of a circle), how to calculate the area and circumference, and how to calculate arc length and sector area. Situational Problem Exam: Tuesday, Oct 25 Practice Situational Problem due Friday, Oct. 21 Fraction Test: Thursday, October 20 October 5: We will now be working on Fractions. It is mostly a review from last year, with more advanced word problems. We will look at adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing mixed and proper fractions; exponents and square roots; simplifying; comparing and word problems. Proportions Test: Monday, October 3 September 1: Welcome back! We will spend the first few days getting acquainted with the class. We will then start our first chapter "Proportions". We will be looking at ratios, rates, percent, decimals; conversions between all four; interest, discount; repeating decimals, bar notation. |
